The Optical Fibers
The optical fibers is what makes up the skeleton of Venus's Flower Basket. This glassy fiber that attaches the sponge to the ocean floor is five to twenty centimeters long and is thin as a strand of human hair. The sponge extracts silicic acid from the ocean water and converts it into silica to form its skeleton of glass fibers.
