Planarian Skeletal Structure
Planarians like all Platyhelminthes have no skeleton and move around using cilia which are hairlike projections on its underside. It also has two layers of muscles that help it move around. It has a simple brain where two nerve chords extend across the body attached to the brain. Other nerves connect to the two main nerve chords and form a ladder like structure. The mouth is also located on its underside of the body. The blunt, triangular head contains two eyespots and pigmented areas that are sensitive to light.
